It has just dawned on me that I've not written anything about myself yet, so without further ado...
My name is Desmond Elliott, I am 22 years old. I am an undergraduate student at The University of Edinburgh studying for a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science - I have just finished the 3rd year of this 4 year degree.
I work part-time for Apple as a Campus Rep during term-time.
I have been using Apple Macs since OS X.1 in Spring 2002. My first Mac was an iMac G4 700 and I still use it (it runs Ubuntu these days). My main machine is an iBook G4 1.33 and that is what I will probably be using for Camino development this summer. I plan to buy a Mac Pro at the end of the summer with the money that I will hopefully earn from this summer.
My interests include music - I read several music review sites everyday; football - very excited about the prospect of being able to watch the World Cup; cricket - I play for my school team; cookery - it's a great way to unwind at the end of the day; and art - I studied a course in Art History in 2001 and it has become a personal interest.

Hi Desmond,
Just found your blog via macdevcenter.com - its a frequent haunt of mine. I'm a similar UK based, student Mac geek! (22 also which is quite amusing)
I'm currently finishing off my law degree at Southampton University, but I'm hoping to do a conversion Masters in computer science at York next year. Over the past few years I've dabbled in Java/Cocoa programming and have made a few widgets, I'd love to make your acquaintance. Its great to learn of another Mac enthusiast in the UK. Congrats on the Apple Rep job/Google Summer of Code with Camino (sounds very exciting).
Hope you make it to WWDC!! Thats a dream of mine too!! Over Easter I upgraded to the MacBook Pro, its definitely worth the money - do it! If you need any help testing Intel builds of Camino when you developing over the summer I'd be happy to lend a hand.
My business website is: http://www.thoughtdimension.com (its long overdue a redesign, so don't judge the layout)
Please contact me via email to chat more, really looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
Gareth
Hi Gareth,
Thanks for reading my blog and taking an interest in the work that we are doing with Camino this summer.
Are you looking at the Software Engineering or Information Technology Masters courses at York? You might be interested to know that Imperial College London offer a MSc Computer Science which is also a conversion course.
If you visit the Camino website (http://www.caminobrowser.org) you can find out how to get involved in testing releases and helping out the community.
Hope to see you active in the community this summer!
Desmond
Hey, nice blog and nice summer job. I love Macs too, but only because I'm not a computer jock so I need something that always works.
Since you dig music, I recommend the Chicago radio show http://www.soundopinions.net/ (podcast/audio download available). Usually very good stuff (sometimes the two guys think they are funnier than they are, but don't we all suffer from that?)
Best of luck,
Patrick
